Acne is a deep pigmentation problem in the skin, medically known as Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH), which is an acquired deep pigmentation.  When the skin is inflamed, the cells in the epidermis are destroyed, and the melanocytes are uncontrolled to release a large amount of melanin, which causes melanin to precipitate in the dermis layer, forming a common name.
